Michel Sproles was born November 29, 1983 in Harbor City, California. Raised in the Greater Los Angeles area she was introduced to athletics early and began running track when she was only 7 years old for a local team, The Los Angeles Jets. While starting her running career at a young age, she traveled across the United States competing in Youth National and Junior Olympic Track Meets. Being raised in the inner-city distractions were all around, however sports exposed her to life outside of her community, and instilled both structure and discipline in her on and off the field. This strong foundation would later carry her throughout life’s many obstacles as a young woman. Michel carried her passion for running track throughout high school and by her senior year she had earned 4 Varsity Letters, multiple league titles, as well as her team being crowned Division 1 California CIF Southern Section and State Champions. 

 

Continuing to realize her athletic dreams, Michel received a full ride scholarship for Track & Field to the University of Nevada Las Vegas (UNLV), where she graduated in 2005 with a Degree in Journalism and Media Studies. Combining her passion for empowerment and education, she went on to teach 7th Grade History at an At-risk school in Las Vegas. Michel later moved to San Diego, CA and attended the University of San Diego, where she graduated in 2018 with a Master’s in Leadership Studies. Though no longer teaching, Michel has a desire to serve others, which she accomplishes through her Philanthropic work with Mercury San Diego Youth Track Club, Long Beach Polytechnic High School, and her newly founded project The Pink Team. 

 

June 12, 2010 Michel married NFL Player Darren Sproles and together they share three daughters. Aside from her full-time commitment as a wife and mom, she is a track coach, mentor, and owner of The Pink Line Hair.
